Eber: Blame it on the Bossa Nova

MIT suspended a student for being a Hamas supporter—modern day Nazi.  Then they backtracked and unsuspended him.  Why?  Because under the law, this vile Nazi would be deported.  The MIT people wanted to keep Nazi’s in this country.

Colleges have become “sanctuary colleges”, keeping violent, Jew/Women/LGBT haters in this country—sitting next to Gay’s, women and Jews in the classroom—thinking about how they will kill these folks.

This is sick—now is the time to end campuses as headquarters for riots, hate and bigotry.

Blame it on the Bossa Nova by Richard Eber

It has been widely reported Kamala Harris’s husband Doug Emhoff has been named by President Biden to head a commission to end Anti-Semitism in the USA.  In performing this next to impossible task, “The First Gentleman” has received withering criticism from Rep, Jeff Van Drew (R – New Jersey) because:

  • His wife is the sitting Vice-President.
  • Emhoff is Jewish.
  • His adult daughter has raised funds for Hamas and renounced her ethnic heritage.

One need not listen to one of Kamala’s patented organic word salads to see Emhoff is being unfairly criticized for his new job.  Ironically these attacks on Kamala’s husband define prejudice against an individual because of their religion and offspring.

He has no power to avoid being a Jew nor has any responsibility for his daughter’s illicit activities supporting terrorists.

This silly season type discussion is being debated in news and social media while real incidents of overt prejudice are being largely glossed over.

Last week at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) two Pro-Palestinian groups physically prevented those of Jewish faith from attending classes.  The remedy of the schools administration was asking affected students to enter the premises in the back of the building to avoid confrontations.

Ironically, this “back of the bus” solution compares to similar tactics used by the Nazi’s soon after Adolf Hitler came to power. It should also be noted asking Jewish students to alter their movements, creates a “separate but equal” status. One would have thought the Supreme Court decision Brown vs the Board of Education in 1954 outlawed such behavior.

To fix the problem, MIT eventually kicked the Pro-Palestinian groups off campus. At the same time, they did virtually nothing to placate the concerns of Jewish kids who still feel disrespected, insecure and unsafe.

Parallel incidents occurred in several institutions of higher education. In effect, the principles of the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution have been abandoned by so called intellectuals.

This is not surprising because the erosion of the American concept of freedom and fair play has transpired for a generation.   Our society has embraced a woke perspective that if one person feels offended, then the government is obligated to deal with their concerns.

Examples of this phenomena is rewriting U.S. History to lessen the contributions of patriots such as Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, and George Washington. As slave owners in Virginia, their achievements have been minimized.

A similar complaint was raised against Abraham Lincoln.  As a wartime President, the man who authored the Emancipation Proclamation, apparently did not do enough to address the rights of native Americans.

Such an attitude persists today. Progressive Democrats continue to rewrite history.  It is their desire to impose virtue signaling-cancel culture values on the population.

Eroding free speech is considered to be collateral damage for “people who are considered to have acted or spoken in an unacceptable manner are ostracized, boycotted, or shunned.

Using such criteria, even those who populated the earth 300 years ago are to be judged as if they were living today.

Such absurdity is about on the same level as the Republican Presidential debate. Vivek Ramaswamy chastised his opponent Nicki Haley for allowing her 25-year-old daughter for using the controversial social media site Tik Tok

Hell, when my girls were 16, I struggled to enforce an 11pm curfew on weekends.  If I were to try to employ similar tactics today, child abuse charges would likely have already been filed?

Where is the balance needed for effective government?  How come wack jobs in both political parties have so much power?  Why is Ramaswamy considered by many observers to be a breath of fresh air?  How can Joe Biden publicly say all of the African American and Jewish vote belongs to Democrats?

Such thinking leads us to “diversity” being considered to be the holy grail of American politics today. Why should one be advanced in life solely on the basis of skin color, ethnicity, religion, or sexual preferences?

Gavin Newsom is the champion of this genre.  This is illustrated by his appointment of an unqualified Black-Female-Lesbian non-California resident to fill the remainder of Dianne Feinstein’s Senate term.  Identity Politics is Newsom’s calling card to gain votes in future elections.

This illustrates how far things have sunk. Even worse, law enforcement and immigration policies have fallen into the category of holding separate but equal status.

We are upside down today where the rights of individuals. They are being replaced in decision making by so called “teams”. Effectiveness is often sacrificed under the banner of providing diversity. These values are so ingrained, debate on hot button issues isn’t tolerated much of the time.

Such poor decision making has spilled into such subjects as climate change and energy policy. Both sides of these issues have taken on unretractable positions that place politics ahead of science.

In such a hostile environment it is no wonder the debate on U.S. policy towards Israel and their neighbors has gone off the rails since the murder spree of Hamas October 7th

Hopson’s Choice scenario’s (facing the firing squad or lethal injection) are all one can look forward to entering the political or educational arenas today.

Maybe it’s less stressful to take on the time honored, “Blame it on the Bossa Nova” approach hoping your team somehow ends up on top?
