Crime-stricken City of Long Beach Declares Support for Ceasefire in Gaza

The city of Long Beach has a crime problem.  How does the city council handle that?  By passing a resolution asking that Israel stop fighting back against terrorists.  Long Beach has financial problems, drug dealers and streets with potholes—but supporting Hamas is a priority.

“The City of Long Beach, California, which is suffering a surge of crime and a rise in homelessness, approved a proclamation Tuesday supporting a ceasefire in Gaza, which would leave the terrorist Hamas group armed and in charge of the territory.

Long Beach, the most important port city in the United States, is suffering a crime wave and saw homelessness rise (again) this year. But a packed city council meeting on Tuesday evening saw a six-hour discussion of a ceasefire — often by the ill-informed.

If they want to make foreign policy, run for Congress.  If they want to make their citizens safe, end the silliness of spending six hours on a resolution that is absolutely meaningless.  Which idiot on the city council is now going to meet Netanyahu and tell him to let him people die?  Which one is that stupid?

Long Beach, the most important port city in the United States, is suffering a crime wave and saw homelessness rise (again) this year. But a packed city council meeting on Tuesday evening saw a six-hour discussion of a ceasefire — often by the ill-informed.

Pro-Israel blogger Yael Bar-Tur satirized the meeting:

NBC Los Angeles reported:

The council voted 5-2 in favor of the proclamation following a nearly 3 1/2-hour public comment period where almost 200 people addressed the council, according to the Press-Telegram.

Council members Kristina Duggan and Daryl Supernaw voted no.

“I wasn’t elected to weigh in on foreign affairs,” Duggan told the Press-Telegram, adding that she opposed the “scorched-Earth advocacy” of some of the proclamation’s supporters. “We shouldn’t be spending time and resources on it. We should be focusing on things within our control.”

The proclamation mentioned Hamas, but failed to condemn Hamas terror, only saying that its “attacks on Israel” should stop.

  1. Long Beach, California is a perfect example of everything that is wrong with California. While the Long Beach City Council does little about the growing crime wave, growing homeless camps, increased taxes and many illegal alien invaders calling the streets “home,” the city council issued a proclamation in support of Hamas brutality. Yeah, that should help with all Long Beach’s problems!

Residents of this world-famous city (thanks in much part to the palatial Queen Mary and the wondrous Aquarium of the Pacific) should thank the Long Beach City Council for prioritizing its focus on issues affecting residents.

Knowing the Long Beach City Council supports Hamas terrorists (that started this “war” with its barbaric October 7 attack on innocent Israelis) should comfort residents when their home or business is burglarized, or they are robbed, or their car is stolen, or their children are accosted by homeless people defecating on city streets, or the family can’t enjoy a picnic in the park because homeless have taken it over, or there are used needles on the streets, or they have to drive to nearby cities to shop since Long Beach’s sales tax is 10% as compared to neighboring Anaheim, Cypress, Seal Beach, Los Alamitos, Buena Park, etc. that are much lower, etc. etc. etc.

Keep electing Democrats and this is what happens.
