Eber: Exhuming the spirt of Edmund Ross

Should Joe Biden be impeached?  Yes.  Crime?  Treason?  Taking bribes from foreign countries and allowing 8 million people to invade our nation.

Regardless of impeachment, he must be indicted for sedition.  Again, he has allowed, so far, eight million to invade our nation.  The results?  Cities like Chicago, New York, Los Angeles, the LAUSD and other cities and school districts are being bankrupted.  Add to that the crime wave the eight million brought with them.  Sedition is the right charge.

“Those casting votes next year answer will answer the question, “Are you better off now than 4 years ago?”  Distracting the body politic about Trump paranoia and pro-choice fear mongering, will likely not lead to the Donkey’s retaining the Presidency.

I just wish we could throw out the matter of impeachment and evaluate issues such as energy, education, foreign policy, high crime rates, inflation, and border security instead.

Is that asking too much?  Perhaps we might consider exhuming the spirit of Edmond Ross, to once again be the voice of reason?

By the time we get to an impeachment trial, it will be summer, just months before an election.  But Joe Biden could be indicted today for treason and sedition.

Exhuming the spirt of Edmund Ross by Richard Eber

Article II, Section 4: The President, Vice President and all civil Officers of the United States, shall be removed from Office on Impeachment for, and Conviction of, Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors. U.S. Const

As an idealistic young lad while attending Junior High, I read John F. Kennedy’s Profiles in Courage several times.  My favorite story was about Senator Edmond Ross of Kansas.  It was his vote against the impeachment of Andrew Johnson that resulted in the efforts of radical Republicans to fail.

Ross’s political career was ruined; but he could take pride in doing what was right for the sake of his country.

From that time on, I considered impeachment to be an action of last resort.

Over the years Article II, Section 4 of the Constitution remained dormant.  It came to life in 1973.  In the wake of the Watergate scandal, President Richard Nixon faced this dire prospect.  Rather than enduring a trial before the Senate, he agreed to resign.

After that impeachment did not come up until President Bill Clinton faced being thrown out of office because of his alleged affair with intern Monica Lewinsky. At that time, I was against the actions of Republicans taking such drastic action.

No doubt. the President was a sleaze, even if he didn’t inhale or be guilty of “penetration”, In my mind his sins of adultery did not measure up to the lofty standards of “Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors.”

Then came Donald Trump.  Being unpopular with Democrats should not have resulted in his impeachment leading to a trial on the Senate floor.  All because of a conversation with the leader of the Ukraine where he demanded Hunter Biden be investigated as a condition for military aid to be timely dispensed.

Trump’s concerns about Hunter Biden’s activities were proven true. The President’s son was never charged with influence peddling, failing to register as a foreign agent, or avoiding income taxes for his actions.

While Donald Trump was eventually acquitted of impeachment charges, the time wasted on his trial sucked attention away from the American people from more important tasks.

Trump’s second impeachment trial pertained to his alleged activities during the January 6th altercation.  By the time of his trial, he was well out of office. This whole matter was a product of revenge-mode by the Democratic Party mob.

James Madison, in authoring the Constitution, was wise in making it difficult to take such a Draconian stance against a sitting President.  History has proven his foresight is seriously lacking today by members of both political parties.

This brings us to Joe Biden.  Thanks to the unanimous support of the Republican majority in the House, investigations are under way that might lead to his impeachment.  It remains to be seen what transpires with this query.

There is no doubt in my mind that there is ample evidence present to throw the former Senator from Delaware out of office.

As VP under Obama, he likely engaged in Prid Pro Quo actions facilitating the removal of the Prosecutor investigating Burisma.  Hunter Biden, despite having zero expertise in energy matters, sat on their board at a salary of $400,000. per year.

And then there is the matter of the President’s son current legal problems. He failed to turn in tax returns on some 43 million dollars accrued from Chinese concerns affiliated with the ruling Communist Party.

Despite flying together, to and from China on Air Force 2, we are led to believe Joe was unaware of his son’s influence peddling schemes.  Should this “ignorance is bliss” tale be true, how could Biden be qualified to deal with this major advisory of the United States?

The President’s denial of involvement, doesn’t even meet “leap of faith” fiction standards.  Despite this alarming fact, I don’t want to impeach this senile, silly old fool.  With only a year left in office, let voters be Biden’s judge and jury.

How seriously should we take the trial proceedings in New York pertaining to Donald Trump? In this case a prosecutor, ran for office on a platform to indict the former President? Even more bizarre, no victim could be found for the alleged fraudulent loans that were all paid back.

Not to be forgotten is the ridiculous proceeding in Miami for Trump holding classified files after leaving office.  Biden, Pence, Obama, and the Clintons did the same thing yet were not indicted.

And then there are the pending proceedings in Georgia accusing Trump of vote tampering.  Again we a have prosecutor has taken a public stand showing her distain for the former President. Even then, these charges were not pursued in Federal Court, where the case belongs.

As a sidebar the Colorado Supreme Court recently decided Donald Trump’s name can’t be placed on the ballot because he violated the 14th Amendment in carrying out an insurrection in the January 6th riots.  Democrat pundits like to compare the former President to Adolph Hitler, while stifling the will of the people to vote for the candidate of their choice.

No court of law has determined Trump to be guilty of anything with a jury in place. What ever happened to the presumption of innocence? Perhaps, this does not count in the Court of Public opinion?

In the final analysis, attempts to pursue legal actions against Trump are a blatant attempt by his political opponents to preventing him occupying 1 Pennsylvania Ave once again.

These banana republic tactics are out of character with American fairness standards. It certainly is odd behavior for a group whose Political Action Committees claim they are saving democracy.

Those casting votes next year answer will answer the question, “Are you better off now than 4 years ago?”  Distracting the body politic about Trump paranoia and pro-choice fear mongering, will likely not lead to the Donkey’s retaining the Presidency.

  1. Good points! Persecution of political opponents — including malicious charges as those leveled at Trump, and useless impeachment proceedings as now occurring regularly — are simply another sign of our once great nation inching its way towards Banana Republic status. Yes, the spirit of wisdom and levelheadedness as exhibited by Edmund Ross and John Adams is sorely needed.
