My good friend Rich Eber is not a politician, nor does he participate in volunteer political activities. Instead he is an observer of the political scene.
While this article is about one Assembly district, it is really an analysis of the difference between the GOP candidates and the Progressive/Socialist/Democrat candidates in California. This is a good primer for GOP candidates.
Opposition to Annamarie Farias by Richard Eber
Sonia Ledo for 15th District Assembly post.
(The Legislature needs a makeover)

One Party rule in California is not working. Electing Annamarie Farias means more of the answer to the 15th District or the State’s needs:
Currently the power structure of California consists of a coalition of progressive democrats, public employee unions, and craft unions, out of touch environmental extremists .. This group comprises less than 10% of the population yet holds a stranglehold on power. What about the rest of us?
With virtually no opposition, these elitists are destroying the economic vitality of California. We need a new group of leaders in the legislature that are aren’t ideologues of failed socialistic policies.
We need to be concerned with:
· High paying jobs leaving the State each week because of high taxes, over regulation, high energy costs and a hostile work environment from a far leftwing government.
· Needed affordable housing stymied by government meddling with unneeded environmental impact reports, and Project Labor Agreements (PLA) that add 25% to building costs
· Insensitive bureaucrats in Sacramento taking local control away on matters such as housing, road maintenance, mental health facilities, homelessness, and school curriculum.
· Unneeded Governmental intervention and regulations leading California having the lhighest energy costs in the entire 48 States
· Encouragement of illegal aliens to settle in California with Sanctuary Cities, direct governmental aid, free medical, and other benefits. Between supporting this constituency and middle class jobs transferring to other States, it is no wonder California is 68 million dollars in the red
We need new leadership in Sacramento. Not more of the same of My opponent who is a hard line socialist who will lead those district 15 down the road to diseaster. We need a legislator who is:
1. Not subservient to the edicts of Gavin Newsom. This involves bringing high paying jobs back to California and stop overspending on social programs with a history of failure.
2. Oppose rent control laws they discourage new construction of new housing and maintenance of existing inventory. Do we want Contra Costa County to emulate the housing policies of San Francisco, Oakland, and Richmond?
3. Stop the construction of the bullet train at once. It is likely a good idea to make this boondoggle at tax right off and sell existing track to private enterprise.
4. Make those who drive electric cars pay their fair share of road maintenance. These wealthy individuals don’t need subsides from government.
5. Spend the majority of tax revenue from the sale of gasoline to maintaining the roads. Restrict public expenditures on mass transit few are using and the creation of bicycle lanes that clog traffic during compute hours. Think of what the majority of the people, not just special interest groups.
6. The present strategy in California to finance excessive government spending by soaking the wealthy, is not working. The caravan of u-hauls departing the Golden State is no coincidence. Close attention should be directed to High Teach businesses that are migrating to locales to where workers can afford homes
7. Remove roadblocks from environmental extremists for building new water storage facilities. Water conservation is a good idea but so is increasing the capacity of Lake Shasta and building badly needed reservoirs. Stop punishing farmers who contribute a great deal of benefits to the States economy.
8. Make it a top priority to reduce crime. This can be done by mandatory jail time for car thefts, car jacking, 3rd conviction for shop lifting, use of firearms in a robbery, Swift turning over illegal aliens who break the law by allowing I,C.E. to deport them.
9. Eliminate public spending on those who reside in Sanctuary Cities. Our laws were never made to supply public assistance to the undocumented. Do you befieve for one moment if I relocated in Mexico or central America, their governments would subsidize.
10. When there are residential facilities available, the homeless should be forced to live at such places. At the same time these individuals should be regularly tested for alcohol and drug use. Playing Mr. Nice Guy allowing for shooting galaries in San Francisco, is not the answer. Homeless encampments should be outlawed except when there is no place for them to go. The State should pay for the transport of homeless individuals moving back to their hometowns.
There will be no 4th of July celebrations if Annamarie has her way. Since 2016, because of her dislike of the policies of Facebook, she has called for a public boycott of the date celebrating American Independence. Such a stand by a 1st generation immigrant is out of touch with her constituents. So are her far leftist views which are similar to Gavin Newsom, Scott Wiener and other Progressive legislators from the Berkeley area. The comments listed below show how out touch she is. Contra Costa County education board member calls for Fourth of July boycott

CONTRA COSTA, Calif. – AnaMarie Avila Farias, a member of the Contra County Board of Education, called for a Fourth of July boycott in a Facebook post Friday.
“I am choosing to continue my annual protest of not celebrating the 4th of July because I believe in this country’s right to freedom of speech,” her post read. “I also believe that a majority of this country supports a woman’s right to choose how to protect their body and their family.” The Facebook post comes after the Supreme Court decision to overturn Roe v. Wade.
The education board member’s post linked to her full statement on Medium, in which she shared that she has not celebrated the Fourth of July since 2016. She addressed the hundreds of hostile comments she has received regarding her Facebook post, claiming that a death threat was made against her via a phone call to the Contra County Board of Education office.
In the Medium post, Avila Farias repeated her reason for her boycott as well as described her personal experience as an immigrant Latina woman in the United States.
“Serving on my County Board of Education and previously city boards have been a part of my American Dream,” she wrote. “An immigrant Latina being elected to serve is one of the most inspirational things about living in this country. I will always believe that. Even as I protest the misguided things that other elected, or appointed, leaders do.”
The education board member highlighted that, to her, participating in civil discourse and fighting against misinformation is what patriotism and the American Dream look like.
“I am NOT going to be silenced,” she concluded on Medium. “I AM going to fight for a woman’s right to choose, to enact better gun laws, and to fight for equal rights. Because this is America.”
Endorsements of Annamarie
They represent the values teachers unions, public service unions, and labor unions who receive government contracts by virtue mandated Project Development labor agreements. The only jobs she promotes come from those who profit from big government.
It is not a coincidence Annamarie is not concerned with exodus of high paying jobs leaving California because of Progressive policies put forth by Governor Newsom and his cohorts in the legislature.
Things to do for the campaign.
1. Examine her votes on the Board of Education and other appointed posts.
2. Review fund raising in terms of who has donated.
3. Review her record as a member of the Martinez City Council in terms of legislation and not getting along with those she worked with.
4. Why she served only one term on that body.
5. Take advantage of Sonia Leda coming in first in the primary
6. Point out Farias is more interested in abortion rights (already in law) diversity, cancel culture, and woke issues, than the economic well being of her constituents.
