What do you call a Republican that Supports/Donates to Democrats Over ENDORSED Republicans/opposes Trump Endorsement? Robert Rego
There was a city council race in San Bernardino. The Republican endorsed by the San Bernardino Republican Party was Henry Nickels. The Democrat was Kim Knaus.
The Regional Vice Chair of the California Republican Party, Robert Rego, was the TREAUSER for the Democrat. Robert Rego, an official of the Republican Party, donated to the Democrat., through a controlled PAC, $249. Not much
But he used another controlled PAC to donate $5500. He then went on to add another $2500 to the Democrat for a total of $8000. This allowed the Democrat to claim Republican Leadership was supporting her.
(I have the 410’s and 460’s to show him as a PAC donor and treasurer. Californians for safer neighborhoods is Rego total controlled treasurer/principal. Friends of the east valley he is just the treasurer.)
At the Fall, 2023 convention he voted NO to allowing the California Republican Party to endorse Donald Trump for President!
Now he wants to be the “Republican” CRP Treasurer. The bigger question is on whose side is he?

Patrick Gibson for Congress/His Wife for Assembly
The 2026 election is beginning to take shape. In November George Whitesides defeated Mike Garcia. The 2024 40thAD Assembly nominee, Patrick Gibson has been telling people he is looking at running for Congress against Whitesides and have his wife run for Assembly in the 40thAD. He told several people at the 40th Ad Gala last Saturday night in Santa Clarita.
At the same time, he is running for LAGOP First Vice Chair. When he follows through on running for Congress, in a few months, he will have to resign as LAGOP Vice Chair (if he is elected) and in the middle of an election season, they will have to replace him)
GOP Mess
Thanks to chaos caused by some refusing to abide by by-laws, Roberts Rules and the votes of members, the CRP Proxy and Credential Committee is meeting on February 20 to determine which group actually represent the county. The three counties are Alameda, Fresno and Monterey. Sadly, regardless of the final decision, these three counties, important ones, will be deeply divided going into the 2026 election. In Monterey, the Establishment allowed six people to vote, who were NOT elected to the Committee, nor were they appointed by the current Committee. Maybe I should have attended and voted as well. Does not matter that I live in Ventura County. They also brought in security guards with laser guns into the meeting and had six cop cars outside on the ready. This is chaos in order to hold onto to power. Sounds like Democrats.
(Periodically the California Political News and Views will publish tidbits of political news, to keep you in the loop of what the pooh bahs know. The phrase “tom/tom’s” comes from my mentor, Lorelei Kinder who never passed a rumor, just called to tell me what she heard on the “TomTom’s”. This column is named in her honor.)
