AAA says the Bay Area’s refining capacity is now at half its levels from 2019. The Bay Area is home to five major oil refineries in Richmond, Martinez and Benicia, according to the California Air Resources Board.
If Newsom had allowed the building of new refineries, we would have the gas we need, now.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — California drivers are paying more at the pump than any other state with the average gas price now up from 40 cents since last month.
According to AAA, the average gas price in California is $4.84, up five cents from the previous week. Hawaii ($4.55) and Washington ($4.14) are right below California.
California’s average is $1.68 higher than the national average of $3.16, which is 11 cents lower than a year ago. Data from AAA shows Mississippi has the lowest average gas price of $2.67.

As for electric vehicles, AAA says California’s average rate at a public EV charging station is 35 cents per kilowatt hour, one more than the national average.
Hawaii has the highest average at public EV charging stations at 55 cents. Kansas has the lowest at 22 cents.
