California Republican Party:  Paying Dues to the CRP DOES NOT Make You a Republican or Part of the Republican Party

Every two years, per the California Republican Party by-laws, the CRP runs an election for Associate Representative Chair.  To be eligible to be Chair, you must be a Republican and pay dues to the CRP.  If you have not paid your dues, you are not eligible to vote.  If you are not a registered Republican in the State of California, you are not eligible to vote.

Aside from CRP officers, the election of the Associate Representative Chair is the ONLY other election embedded in the by-laws.  EVERYONE ASSUMES this is a CRP/Republican operation.

YOU ARE WRONG

For years the Associate Reps have held meetings at the CRP convention, organized walks/calls for candidates.  The Associate Rep SITS on the Platform, with the other elected CRP officials during conventions.  For over a year the Associate Reps have held meetings around the State, built membership, used the name California Republican Party, CAGOP, GOP in their logo emails and at events.  No problem.  But a few weeks ago, the California Republican Party, without a Board discussion or vote and EXCOMMUNICATED Associates from the Republican Party.

On April 7, this email was sent by Ashlee Titus, Counsel for the CRP to Jon Paul White, the elected Associate Representative (in an election Run by the CRP, allowing ONLY those that paid dues to the CRP to vote):

Ashlee N. Titus

Mr. White,

The CRP bylaws do not reference any “associate delegates” organization.  The CRP bylaws only provide for an elected “associate representative.”

“GOP” is trademarked by the RNC.  In the context of raising money, the California Elections Code reserves use of political party names for use by qualified political parties.

I’ve advised you very specifically on the objectionable references to “CRP” and “CA GOP” in your online content and emails, and what CRP is demanding be removed.

I look forward to your confirmation these changes have been made.”

It is as if the CRP does considers those that paid dues to the CRP are NOT Republicans.  Are they Democrats?  When the CRP ran the election are they allowing non dues paying, non registered Republicans to vote?

If the Associate Reps are not a part of the Republican Party, are they an independent organization?  If so, why does the CRP mandate members pay dues?  Why do they mandate you have to be a registered Republican.

Worse, this silliness cost money.  Every time an attorney makes a call, sends a letter, sends an email, they charge the client.  How much money did the CRP spend on the numerous emails and letters—when a phone call would have sufficed?

Is this why the CRP Board refuses to do either an independent audit or a real internal audit?  After nine years and about $200 million raised and spent, the CRP has yet to have an audit.  Would any business allow this?  How many others worthless efforts have been taken in the name of the CRP?

Oh, I checked and found about twenty organizations in California that use the term Republican.  Some were called.  Not a single one received a cease and desist letter from the CRP.  So, if you paid dues to the CRP you can not use the term Republican—but if you do not pay CRP dues you are allowed to?  This is very confusing.  This is the type of action that makes people re-register as NPP or not register at all.

I would urge the CRP Board of Directors to take control of this situation.  Want Republicans, make them welcomed, not waste our time, money on silliness and petty politics.

Like the Democrat Party, the California Republican Party does not support or endorse the Reform California ballot measure for the November, 2026 election to mandate Voter ID.  Though more than 80% of California Republicans support this, President Trump supports this, the CRP does not.

If we are ever to get to be relevant again in California we need honest elections—no illegal aliens voting.  The Golden West Republican Women are holding a statewide zoom on May 6 with the author of the measure, Assemblyman Carl DeMaio.  He will explain the contents of the measures and how to volunteer to get signatures, to qualify for the November, 2026 election.

This is a free ZOOM call, all you have to do is register:

  1. I am a member of seven Republican/Conservative clubs, plus i am always communicating with America First Patriots with my Patriots Neighbors newsletter and regular contributions to American Thinker.

For those in California, OVERALL, there is disgust and contempt for the CAGOP. There is the universal feeling that it is best to donate directly to candidates you support and NOT give one penny to the CAGOP or even local GOPs. DONATE DIRECTLY TO CANDIDATES!

    1. I couldn’t agree more. While the state is supposedly turning to the Right, with the recent upswing in Republican voter registration, proof that the Right’s best days here are still AHEAD lies in the fact that the state GOP’s once-RINO heavy tendencies still have influence.
