Looks like those that lied about Biden being fit to be President, have moved to California. In a joke worthy of SNL, Newsom claims our deficit is “only” $12 billion. Of course, to do that he had to take most of our reserves. To get to that number he does not delete the tens of billions the Feds have already announced they will not give California due to it being a law breaking State. For instance, the Feds have ENDED $3.5 billion Newsom expected for Medi-Cal, to give free health care to illegal aliens. It does not include the billions the UC system is going to lose due to its racist enrollment policies and support for anti-semitic activity and Hamas. Nor does it include the $20 billion we “borrowed” from the Feds to pay for unemployment checks—due NOW.
“Asm. Alexandra Macedo (R–Tulare) called on Newsom to stop supporting high-speed rail and to move that funding elsewhere. Newsom’s budget included a a guaranteed floor of $1 billion from cap-and-trade revenue for the California High-Speed Rail Authority.
- “The Governor likes to blame President Trump for the state’s budget woes,” Macedo said. “But, under Governor Newsom’s leadership, the state’s fiscal problems began long before President Trump took office. Make no mistake, the Governor doubled-down on a failed project and made high-speed rail a top priority for future cap-and-trade funding. The Governor has the authority to redirect the $1 billion of cap-and-trade funding that goes to the High-Speed Rail Authority to pay for vital services, especially wildfire prevention and water infrastructure.”
This is payoff money to unions, donors and supportive corporations. No one believes it will ever be built—but Democrats need to feed its friends, with your money. A $12 billion deficit? That is as big a lie as the one claiming Biden served as President. He was a warm body, nothing else.

California Gov. Gavin Newsom revealed on Wednesday that the state is facing a $12 billion budget deficit.
The bleak outlook helped shape Newsom’s May budget revision as the Legislature prepares to work on the state’s $322 billion budget in the coming weeks.
Driving the news: Newsom blamed the deficit on President Donald Trump’s tariffs, saying his January budget was effectively balanced.
- He said Trump has targeted California, leading to a significant slowdown in the Golden State’s financial projections for fiscal year 2025-2026.
Flashback: While Newsom blamed Trump for California’s financial woes, the state has had a deficit for a few years running.
- Two years ago lawmakers had to grapple with a $32 billion deficit, which ballooned to $47 billion last year.
Zoom in: Under Newsom’s plan, which will likely be heavily scrutinized by the Legislature, programs including free healthcare for illegal immigrants and Medi-Cal benefits for weight loss treatments such as Ozempic would be cut.
- Illegal immigrants enrolled in Medi-Cal would have to pay $100 monthly premiums under Newsom’s budget proposal.
- That program ended up resulting in a $6.2 billion Medi-Cal shortfall.
- The governor is also proposing to cut overtime hours for in-home supportive service workers.
What he’s saying: “California is under assault,” Newsom said. “We have a president that’s been reckless in terms of assaulting those growth engines.”
The other side: Asm.
- Macedo continued, “The Governor’s allocation of a billion dollars today is not even enough for the High-Speed Rail’s ever-ending black budget hole. There is a $7 billion shortfall to finish the first phase – from Merced to Bakersfield. Audit after audit, the High-Speed Rail has found to be mismanaged and plagued with delays. After 17 years and $13.7 billion already spent, the High Speed Rail Authority has not laid a single foot of track.”
- Assembly Minority Leader James Gallagher (R–Yuba City) called on Newsom to take responsibility for California’s failures.
- “Newsom’s finger-pointing on the budget shortfall is the biggest load of crap I’ve ever seen from a politician, and he shovels out a lot of it. We’re in this mess because of his reckless spending, false promises, and failed leadership,” Gallagher said. “Newsom needs to stop blaming everyone else and own up like a man. He promised free healthcare to illegal immigrants. California can’t afford it, so he’s backpedaling, but still charging taxpayers billions for it over the next year. Meanwhile, our citizens are struggling with the highest costs in a generation, failing infrastructure, and underperforming schools.”
