California investment firm opens Dallas office north of downtown

Watch as another California firm begins the march to Texas.  It starts with an office, set up, get locations for a headquarters, and when the leases are up on the California property, they leave for Texas—and add to the bottom line without adding customers or raising prices.

““Canyon Partners’ decision to open a Dallas office is a big win for the region offering positive impacts within both the business community and the broader community,” Andy Leatherman, managing director with commercial property firm JLL, said in a statement. “The D-FW population growth, and we are enthusiastic about Canyon’s continued success here.”

Of course California media has not reported on this—the story comes from Dallas.  Why is Newsom silent on losing so many businesses?

A Los Angeles-based investment firm is opening an office in Dallas’ Uptown area.

Canyon Partners LLC, an alternative investments firm, is taking office space in the Harwood No. 2 building on McKinnon Street north of downtown Dallas.

The 30-year-old investment advisor also has offices in Hong Kong, London, New York, Seoul, Shanghai and Tokyo.

“Canyon Partners’ decision to open a Dallas office is a big win for the region offering positive impacts within both the business community and the broader community,” Andy Leatherman, managing director with commercial property firm JLL, said in a statement. “The D-FW region has steadily grown over the last 10 years, consistently leading the nation in both job and population growth, and we are enthusiastic about Canyon’s continued success here.”

Leatherman and JLL’s Brad Selner negotiated the lease with Hannah Waidmann and Kelly Whaley of building owner Harwood International.

Harwood No. 2 is a 10-story office building just north of the Crescent.

Developer Harwood International recently started work on a 27-story office tower on Harry Hines Boulevard near the entrance to the Dallas North Tollway. Dallas law firm Haynes and Boone is leasing 125,000 square feet in the tower with plans to move in in late 2023.

Harwood International has built eight office buildings in the 19-block Harwood District, which includes offices, retail and residential space. A new hotel is also under construction in the project.
