Here is another sign that California is quickening the pace of the DOOM LOOP. Newsom is bringing the cost of gas up to $8.00 a gallon, making sure few can afford housing, using the cops to protect criminals from foreign countries, and more. He is limiting the availability of water, which means the cost of water is going up.
“In the last water usage proposal, increased rates would amount to 56% over the next five years. The price hikes would affect up to 165,000 residents in all city wards, however the ward with the most affected residents is in Ward 5. The increases are due to aging infrastructure, state and federal regulations, and the need to acquire more water.
Last deliberations were in March, where city staff laid out how dire the situation is.
“If no action is taken, and we stay the course, within just a couple years, there will be no money in this fund to keep system going,” said Ward 1 City Councilmember, Eric Arias.
“I wouldn’t say no money…I would say not enough money to pay for operations, let alone capital improvement,” said Christian Clegg, Bakersfield City Manager.”
Not mentioned is the real cause of this increase, Newsom policies.

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — Bakersfield City Council will take up a proposal this week to raise your water rates, and it’s far from a drop in the bucket.
In the last water usage proposal, increased rates would amount to 56% over the next five years.
“I wouldn’t say no money…I would say not enough money to pay for operations, let alone capital improvement,” said Christian Clegg, Bakersfield City Manager.
The rate would increase by 34% starting July 1, about $11 per month, followed by a 6% increase in both fiscal years 2027 and 2028…then a 2.4% increase in 2029 and 2030.
“I think this would be a tough pill for the community to swallow,” said Arias.
With the city’s current water rates, there is a 12 to 15 million dollar shortfall in revenue to cover the costs of repairs and water treatment.
Residents affected by the rate increase would be paying more than oildale mutual costumers, but less than East Niles, Cal Water, and Vaughn water customers.
Residents can make their voices heard. Those affected will get notice, and be invited to speak at a public hearing, once council approves to send notices.
The city will discuss the rates on Wednesdays meeting, where they will decide to notify the public about the increases.
