Colman: COMBATTING UNIVERSITY ANTI-SEMITISM

After many years of the media and public denying the rampant anti-Semitism on the campuses and in the community, the Hamas Terrorists have now openly taken over our major colleges and universities—like UCLA, USC, Cal, Yale, MIT, Harvard.  Being at UCLA or Yale is like being in Syria or Iran—or Gaza

According to “All Things Considered,” a news program on National Public Radio, the Oct. 7, 2023, attack on Israel by Hamas, an anti-Semitic and anti-Zionist organization of Palestinians, has “fueled tensions, protests and even violence across the U.S., with reports of both antisemitic and Islamophobic incidents surging dramatically since then [Oct. 7].”  Hamas is located principally in the Gaza Strip, a Palestinian region near the south of Israel.  The Gaza Strip borders on the Mediterranean Sea.”

Hamas Terrorists even took over the California State Assembly—the Democrats did nothing and no one was arrested.  America is now in a full blown civil war—and our government is on the other side!

University presidents need to know how to handle campus anti-Semitism.

On Dec. 5, 2023, three university presidents testified before Congress.  The three presidents gave elliptical answers when asked about anti-Semitism on their respective campuses.

The three university presidents who testified on Dec. 5 are Claudine Gay of Harvard University, Liz Magill of the University of Pennsylvania, and Sally Kornbluth of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.  Two of the three presidents resigned shortly after testifying.  The presidents who resigned are Gay and Magill.

According to news reports, Hamas terrorists killed between 1200 and 1400 Israeli Jews on Oct. 7.  Other Israeli Jews were kidnapped.  They were taken inside the Gaza Strip.

The three university presidents said that they faced a dilemma between anti-Semitic comments and the right of free speech.

At the Dec. 5 hearing, Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-New York) accused Gay of lacking “moral clarity.”

When asked about anti-Semitism, the three university presidents should have quoted George Washington, American’s first president.

In August 1790, Washington, as president, wrote, after visiting the Tauro Synagogue in Newport, Rhode Island, that Jews are welcome in America and should not fear living in the United States.

Washington wrote:  “May the children of the stock of Abraham who dwell in this land continue to merit and enjoy the good will of the other inhabitants –- while every one shall sit in safety under his own vine and fig tree and there shall be none to make him afraid.”

Whenever anti-Semitism appears, all Americans, including university presidents, should quote Washington’s words and state emphatically and unambiguously that anti-Semitism has no place in America.
