Great news—more TSA agents at the airports, less bureaucrats in the office.
“A DHS release, obtained by FOX Business, revealed a major issue. At 86% of U.S. airports, more TSA employees work full-time on union tasks than on screening passengers.
Out of 432 federalized airports, 374 have fewer than 200 TSA officers doing actual screening. Many officers, paid by the government, focus entirely on union duties and lack proper screening certification.
DHS pointed to a TSA employee survey exposing a major flaw. More than 60% of “poor performers” stay employed and continue underperforming.
The agency said this problem weakens TSA’s mission. “To safeguard our transportation systems and keep Americans safe,” DHS stated.
Eliminating collective bargaining, DHS argued, will improve airport efficiency. It will cut red tape, boost productivity, and shorten security lines.”
They have now stopped financing union officers. Let the union pay for them. Plus, since these union officers NEVER worked at the TSA—except to get a paycheck for the union work, they have proven not to be needed. We can fire these folks and hire real TSA agents, not union enforcers.

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is ending collective bargaining for Transportation Security Officers. The decision affects TSA employees nationwide.

Promotions will now be based on performance, not seniority or union affiliation. DHS says this will create a stronger workforce.
“Thanks to [DHS] Secretary Noem’s action, Transportation Security Officers will no longer lose their hard-earned dollars to a union that does not represent them,” a DHS spokesperson said.
“This ensures a more effective and modernized workforce. Travelers can expect shorter wait times and a more secure airport experience,” DHS added.
