Eber: California’s desperate plight

California is in a DOOM LOOP.  It is not a murder; it is a suicide.  High costs, ridiculous taxes and regulations, hate taught in schools—Jew haters running our college campuses—California is a mess.

Chanel 2 News in Oakland just ran a story about 7 dead whales who washed up near San Francisco Bay during their migration South in late May. Their reporter mentioned this year triple the number  of whales as usual entered the region.

With no scientific evidence, it was concluded climate change was responsible for the dead mammals.  Such pretzel logic is considered point of information in the Golden State.

Reality just doesn’t matter any longer.

To counter air pollution a bike land has been operating on the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge. It has averaged 111 trips a day.  Far more damage to the ozone is caused by 140,000 commuters who traverse bumper to bumper during commute hours spewing gas fumes.”

Daily life is dangerous and expensive.  California is a place to visit—instead of other Third Worlds Countries.

My shoe lace broke today.  Most people would blame Donald Trump but I know it’s actually caused by climate change.   teppwire.com

Is this statement an exaggeration or a way of life in California?

Unfortunately, it’s the later. Without doubt the Progressive political establishment believes Donald Trump and alleged climate change are responsible for all that ails us.

To counter air pollution a bike land has been operating on the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge. It has averaged 111 trips a day.  Far more damage to the ozone is caused by 140,000 commuters who traverse bumper to bumper during commute hours spewing gas fumes.

Legendary political columnist Dan Walters noted the Rand think tank concluded it costs 2.8 times more to build housing in California compared to Texas.  Between  the cost of land. Project Labor Agreements, (PLA) permits, taxes, and CEQA environmental reviews, it has proven impossible to construct anything affordable,

To remedy the situation Assembly Bill 609 proposed.  Many red tape requirements and CEQA reviews are intended to be eliminated.  Enter labor and environmentalist lobbies. In time, they were able to introduce amendments protecting the power of of their constituencies. A.B. 609 was soon watered down to nothing.

The bill died in committee. For Sacramento this was business as usual.

Having made such horrible planning decisions, the legislature has had to backtrack from alleged reforms made in the past.

AB-5 is a classic example.  This law was passed in 2019.  It was intended to force owner operator truck drivers to be classified as company employees so they would become union members. It’s modified version was thrown out by voters with Proposition 22 in 2020.

Not only truck drivers but many industries from property appraisers, independent writers , to Uber employees rejoiced.  Ab-5’s tentacles  were too extreme for those who wished to stay Independent in their employment.

Even prior to Covid-19, blatant shop lifting had become a major problem for retail businesses. To help remedy the situation voters passed Prop 36 changing repeated offenses from being  misdemeanors  to a felony.

In a similar vein, Illegal street vending, especially by illegal immigrants was hurting merchandisers.  In response the legislature has cracked down on this practice to help businesses, especially in big cities.

Previously, lenient shop lifting and sidewalk sales laws were part of an effort, especially for D.A.’s supported by George Soros, to shield illegal aliens from being subject to deportation  by I.C.E.  Eventually,  the collateral damage was too great for even the legislature to ignore.

The fruits of these misguided policies have included:

  • Criminal actives stimulated by reducing shop lifting penalties causing havoc in cities.  National businesses from Nordstrom’s to Walgreen’s being forced to close their doors because of retail theft.  Many shopping malls have become retail ghost towns.
  • Sanctuary cities filled with illegal aliens sucking resources from the state. With the Federal Government no longer willing to pick-up the tab for their well being, Gavin Newsom has bankrupted California taking care of these migrants.
  • Cap and trade, high taxes, housing costs, poor public education  and over regulation, has led to business’s leaving  California in droves.  A lowered tax base has resulted by those dependent on government hand-outs replacing those who have departed. This has further crippled. the State’s economy.

Related to this migration, has been a growing homeless population lacking resources and a sense of purpose in their lives.  Their needs of food, shelter, clothing, and medical care are not being met well enough to solve their plight.

Meanwhile Gavin Newsom, with one foot out the door turning his energies to running for the Democratic nomination for President in 2028, is seemingly oblivious  of the disaster that surrounds him.

It is easy for the Governor to depict Donald Trump to be a man somewhere between Darth Vader and Mr. Burns from the Simpsons.  He is hoping to leave town prior to the entire state of California collapsing. Newsom’s E-Ticket is blaming others for the failure of his Socialist policies.

Regardless of Newsom’s new moves, its time to pay the piper for what has transpired under his and Jerry Brown’s reigns.

California will need to follow a different path if past glories are to be recaptured once again.  While cracking down on crime and being forced because of budget cuts to reduce financial support of Sanctuary cities is a step in the right direction, additional measures are needed.

Absurd energy policies must be be reversed along with overregulation that has stymied business and housing starts.  California voters will have to remove the political gridlock caused by labor unions and radical environmentalists.

Whether this reform will come from placing Republicans or moderate Democrats in power, remains to be seen. Blaming Donald Trump and Climate Change for the States woes, just ain’t cutting it.

If the State is to recover, it won’t be business as usual at the polls in 2026.

  1. California is a unique state. They have in braced Progressiveness as though it were a religion. Maybe to Californians, it is a religion. Not too long ago, they could have been classified as a cult!

  2. Next year, we MUST elect for governor and state legislature NON-RINO Republicans or our state is finished. Simply put, this is a case of, “Once we reach the bottom, there’s nowhere to go but DOWN”.

  3. Good question “Any suggestions?” Progressives have achieved their Nirvana in California – a vast population that cannot think or survive without government assistance. Conservatives have lost the fire and brimstone dealing with real (pocketbook and safety) issues that the Tea Party had. So, maybe go talk to the politically red inland folks and organize?
