Eber: Christmas Circa 2023

Every year, for the past seven years, Rich Eber has provided a finality to the year via a Christmas message.  While it is in satire and humorous form, it is a fun trip through the year and where we are as a people.

“The meaning of an ornament resting on top of a decorated tree has been discredited. Cancel culture historians now claim the Star of Bethlehem and the son of God never existed.  Much like the old Soviet Union and Communist China, citizen’s loyalty to anything but the State, is discouraged or banned.

Nothing is what it seems.  In 2023 Rudolph is no longer leading Santa’s sled team.  This year the beloved reindeer is confined to rehab while trying to deal with chronic alcoholism.  Apparently, his red nose is attributable to consuming excessive amounts of spiked eggnog.

Hopefully, when Rudolf finishes a 12-step program, he will resume delivering packages for Santa once again.”

In the year of 2023 is it possible that Rudolph would not be allowed to lead the reindeer?  Instead the WOKE would have Rhonda, the former male reindeer, as the leader.

Christmas Circa 2023 by Richard Eber

Richard Eber, Exclusive to the California Political News and Views,  12/22/23   www.capoliticalnewsandviews.com

I’m dreaming of Woke Christmas

Just like the one I never knew

Where Critical Race Theory is spoken

While our classrooms become unbroken

With diversity reining everywhere

I’m dreaming on a non-White Supremist season

where crosses are absent for good reason

With Washington and Jefferson being long gone

While cancel culture allows us all to get along

As rewriting history books is no longer needed

With talk of past USA greatness now unheeded

Where the First Amendment is suspended

With free speech for now virtually ended

For once BLM and ANTIFA ain’t offended

With Democrats in charge of everything

Once again, Christmas is upon us. The new status quo of this religious occasion has been relegated to be the Holiday Season.

The meaning of an ornament resting on top of a decorated tree has been discredited. Cancel culture historians now claim the Star of Bethlehem and the son of God never existed.  Much like the old Soviet Union and Communist China, citizens loyalty to anything but the State, is discouraged or banned.

Hopefully, when Rudolf finishes a 12-step program, he will resume delivering packages for Santa once again.

Seriously, with the war against Hamas in its third month, my Hanukkah candles continue to dim.

Especially vexing is the anti-Semitic pronouncements emanating from schools of higher learning.  How can a culture that preaches liberty and justice for all have leaders who condone hatred of Jews in the halls of Congress?

No matter how much military spending is allocated, solutions for ending wars in the Ukraine and in the Gaza Strip have proven to be near impossible.   We seem to be in a continuing cycle of us versus them mentality.

At the same time, an axis of evil is engulfing the world as we know it. Meanwhile, the stars and stripes continues to stand idly by in reacting to proxy attacks engineered by the terrorist regime in Iran.

We have a government in charge that has fallen into the trap of “look before you leap”.  They are attempting to impose an unrealistic Green Agenda on the American people.  Gavin Newsom has extended this disastrous policy even further in the Golden State.

Nationally and in California, irresponsible government spending is destroying what should be a strong economy.

More attention is given by the White House to failed “Bidenomics” than protecting our Southern border from unwanted immigrants, dangerous drugs, and unknown terrorists.

Our free enterprise system is being slowly subverted by Progressive Socialists. They believe more government involvement is the answer to fixing all that ails us.

The upcoming Presidential election is a monument to the polarization that is strangling our country.  We have two candidates Joe Biden and Donald Trump. The majority of voters (especially Independents) don’t desire either one of them to reside in the White House.

Can America do better than a senile crook whose family has been enriched (compromised) by foreign governments in Europe and Communist China?  Even worse, Biden’s second in command Kamala Harris, is an unqualified political hack, who few even in her own Party desire to be V.P.

On the GOP side we have Donald Trump. His bombastic-narcissistic style reminds us of dictators buried long ago.  Casting aside the phony legal charges brought against him by a corrupt justice system; this man does not exhibit leadership qualities to be CEO of the United States.

And yet here we are in a “I’m midway, down the midway moment of time. The future of our democratic form of government is very much at stake.

Political Scientists and assorted talking head pundits are all saying the same thing.  Next November will be a realigning election.  It is projected, the path of our democracy for the next generation will be determined.

Meanwhile conservatives are left holding the bag.   We witness the world disintegrating into shambles before our very eyes.  As new year soon approaches, all we can only look forward to is:

I won’t be home for Christmas

You can’t count on me

Cancel Culture has taken hold with all its infamy

December 25th is no longer recognized to be

As the holiday season makes us all flee

To another era when Christmas was a source of revere

Critics say it’s still OK to ride in a one horse open sleigh

As long as devout Christianity does not get in the way

So goodbye to Santa and Rudolph as well

No more concerns about heaven or hell

In Woke World celebrating Jesus’s birthday is no longer cool

For anyone calling themselves religious is considered a fool

Or even worse a White Supremist tool

Yikes! Those of us that still drink should tie one on hoping for a better world will emerge in 2024.

  1. Yep. “Nothing is what it seems.” And that is as long as the world is indeed divided into an “us versus them mentality.” Heck, we cannot even trust Rudolph’s true gender, when our Christmas cards and other traditions show “him” with antlers in winter — totally against the nature of male reindeer! Merry Christmas, regardless!
