Corruption has many forms.
A Fresno city councilman knew about an ICE raid. His actions? He warned the illegal aliens that ICE was coming for him. It is a Federal felony to protect law breakers. Will AG Bondi indict and arrest him? If not, that normalizes the protection of criminals. Worse, it puts ICE agents in danger.
““We have learned that this weekend, ICE is planning to engage in a massive immigration raid at the Cherry (Avenue) Auction in Fresno,” Arias stated. “So I would advise our immigrant community that they should stay away from the Cherry Auction this weekend as they would put themselves and their families in the most vulnerable position to be picked up and taken out of the country, without due process, as has been clearly documented in our state.”
He admits he committed a crime. This is why the Feds do not tell local agencies or elected officials, in advance, of a raid. The good news is that we are finding lots of criminals who serve as elected officials.

Fresno City Council member Miguel Arias warned Fresno County residents about a potential U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raid at a well-known outdoor market over the weekend.
Driving the news: During a city council meeting on Thursday, Arias raised concerns, alleging that ICE planned to conduct an immigration enforcement operation at the Cherry Avenue Auction in rural Fresno County over the weekend.
- Cherry Ave. Auction ownership countered the public allegation via social media channels.
What they’re saying: “We have learned that this weekend, ICE is planning to engage in a massive immigration raid at the Cherry (Avenue) Auction in Fresno,” Arias stated. “So I would advise our immigrant community that they should stay away from the Cherry Auction this weekend as they would put themselves and their families in the most vulnerable position to be picked up and taken out of the country, without due process, as has been clearly documented in our state.”
- “We find it puzzling and offensive that a city councilmember would claim to possess such information. We are further concerned that Mr. Arias may be willfully interfering in a federal action involving Immigration and Customs Enforcement,” Cherry Ave. Auction management said in a social media post. “We urge the community not to be swayed by fear or misinformation being circulated through various channels.”
