California Republican Party Move Convention Date.  No Longer Suppressing Primary Vote

  1. The plan was simple by the CRP.  Hold the Spring convention March 1-3, a couple of days prior to the March 5 California Primary.  Leaders and activists would be in San Jose instead of walking precincts, making phone calls and getting out the last minutes GOP vote.  By suppressing the vote, our candidates would get fewer votes, thus making our incumbents more vulnerable and our challengers having a more difficult time raising money.

The California Political News and Views informed its readers the first week of October about this.  Then legislators, county chairs, candidates and activists asked the Party to change the date.  Until last night, the Party said they were keeping the March 1-3 date.

But the reality of the situation and the pressure caused the Party to do the right thing.

The convention will now be on May 17-19, in Burlingame.

This is what happens when conservative unify and activate.  Just as we won the Platform fight, this is another victory for the grassroots, the county chairs and legislators.

  •  How do you tell if the LAGOP is doing its job?  One way is to see if they meet, have precinct operations, voter registrations, hold fund raisers or per Standing Rules, submit minutes of their monthly meetings.  How are they doing?

There are 24 Assembly District Committees in the County

14 appear to be active

8 submit monthly minutes

4 have held fund raisers

3 have done precinct work.

ZERO have done voter registration.  In fact, no one can remember the last time a Voter Registration report at their monthly meeting.

On Saturday, the LAGOP will hold its monthly meeting—we will see if they give a FULL financial report on the “Eastman” event which appears, at best, to have broken even.
