HEARD ON THE TOM/TOMS

Heard on the Tom/Toms

Stephen Frank, Exclusive to the California Political News and Views,  3/11/24      www.capoliticalnewsandviews.com

I have to presume that the people who wrote this money beg letter for the California Republican Party did not see any TV and hear radio for the past three months.  I also have to presume that no one proofread the language in this March 6 email blast sent in the name of the CRP.  There can be no other excuse for something this misleading.

On March 6, 2024, tens of thousands of people received an email that started with this:

“Stephen, the stage is set.

We have Republican Steve Garvey and Democrat Adam Schiff facing off for California’s Senate Seat this Election.

Democrats spent MILLIONS trying to lock Republicans out of this Senate race and they FAILED.

But margins are tight and we’re dedicating resources to making sure every Republican vote is counted.”   As we all know, in fact, Adam Schiff spent $6 million making sure he ran against Steve Garvey in November.  Katie Porter spent about one million begging people to vote for Eric Early.  Does that sound like a lock out?   This was about the DEMOCRATS picking OUR Senate candidate—at the same time Garvey spent ZERO on TV/radio ads—and Early spent about $100,000.   Literally, by picking a Republican to run against, Schiff and Porter will not have to spend $50,000,000 for the November race.  Instead, Schiff can now take the $30 million he would have spent against Porter—and use that money to defeat Steele, Valadao, Calvert, Duarte and Stockton Mayor Kevin Lincoln.  He will still have money left over to defeat GOP candidates for Senate like Kari Lake, McCormick in Pennsylvania and Sheehy in Montana.   Locked out by Democrats?  If anything, the inability of our candidates to raise money was the lock out.  Here is a thought.  Maybe our GOP political leaders need to think strategically, for the Party instead of helping friendly consultants to make money.

(Periodically the California Political News and Views will publish tidbits of political news, to keep you in the loop of what the pooh bahs know.  The phrase “tom/tom’s” comes from my mentor, Lorelei Kinder who never passed a rumor, just called to tell me what she heard on the “TomTom’s”.  This column is named in her honor.)
