Below is a copy of an email I received from the California Republican Party on April 7, 2025.
It asks me to sign a petition, created by the CRP, to show my support for Voter ID. In part it states, “So, we’re looking to gather an ENORMOUS number of signatures before midnight tonight. PLEASE, before midnight: will you sign our petition showing that YOU, the voter, support voter ID requirements?”
Will they present the petitions to the legislature, a judge, in the media? Nope, the purpose is to get email addresses—and then send more email, asking for money.
NOT mentioned in the CRP email is the Reform California, Assemblyman Carl DeMaio, VOTER ID measure. SIGN THAT, and if enough signatures are collected, it will be on the November, 2026 ballot. Wisconsin, which just voted a Progressive on the Supreme Couty and added abortion to the State Constitution, passed a Voter ID law! If the CRP was serious about voter id, they would have urged people to sign the REAL petition and get it on the ballot. Instead, they use the issue as an excuse to get email addresses, to raise money—to send more beg letters.
If you want to really help, not pretend—your political club, your county committee can endorse the effort and set a goal of signatures to be gathered. WANT HONEST ELECTIONS—GET SERIOUS ABOUT IT:

If this is real, shame on the CRP. If this is a Liberal or Democrat ruse to make the Republican Party look bad, shame on them. The CPR needs to explain this tactic. It is ours or it is theirs!
It is fundraising—-take a popular position, say you are on it but give us your money so we can make it happen…and then the money raised goes to support the overhead of CRP. Some people are sucked in and give money. If they actually want to make it believable CRP should put a plan together, sell the plan, and fundraiser to make the plan happen. With out that these are empty words, Don’t be a sucker, delete it!
