The Kern County “Machine” protects its own. Even when child abuse is involved. Oh, former Supervisor Scrivner has an Aunt—the Kern DA!!
“Youngblood told KGET that the state’s complaint articulates a sex crime, even though Scrivner was not charged with one. That means Scrivner will never have to register as a sex offender.
- “In my opinion, this will be plea bargained off down the road and ultimately will be nothing,” Youngblood said. “I’m really disappointed in not only the 10 months that it took, but the charges that they charged him with – the fact that the judge had to be involved in a pre-arrest deal. He walked into the courtroom never booked. Even the President of the United States was booked, photographed and fingerprinted. Zack Scrivner was not.”
- Youngblood said there must have been a deal between Scrivner and the Attorney General’s Office to not have to be arrested.
- He said he feels that Scrivner has received special treatment throughout the process.
“I felt like going through this investigation the little contact we had with the AG, and I mean little, it was as if they wanted us to build a defense for Mr. Scrivner, asking questions that the defense attorney should be asking, not the prosecution,” Youngblood said.”
We need an investigation of this investigation. Something smells, and the Sheriff agrees.

Kern County Sheriff Donny Youngblood is far from pleased that California Attorney General Rob Bonta declined to charge former Kern County Supervisor Zack Scrivner with a sex crime.
Youngblood appeared on KGET on Thursday to talk about the Scrivner investigation and charges.
Driving the news: Last week, the California Department of Justice charged Scrivner with three felony counts of child abuse and two felony counts of possessing assault weapons.
- Scrivner pleaded not guilty in court, but was not arrested by authorities, nor booked.
- The charges stemmed from an incident at Scrivner’s Tehachapi home last April. Youngblood revealed at the time that Scrivner was stabbed in the upper torso by one of his four children in an attempt to protect another child from being sexually assaulted by Scrivner.
- While Scrivner was not charged with any sex crimes, though the criminal complaint that was filed by the Department of Justice accused Scrivner of getting into bed with one of his children and touching the child inappropriately.
What he’s saying:
- said. “I feel like a deal was made outside the public eye, outside the courtroom, and it really is disappointing.”
- Youngblood said he felt that his office was frequently ignored by the Attorney General’s Office throughout the investigation, adding that the 10 months that it took to charge Scrivner did not surprise him.
- “There’s victims in this case, and that’s all I care about,” Youngblood said. “I don’t care about Zack Scrivner. I don’t care about [defense attorney] H.A. Sala. I care about the victims and how we treat them and what they are thinking about this case. That’s important to me.”
