Zeldin Suggests Conditions for California Fire Aid, No Blank Checks

Would you give $40 billion dollars to someone that caused the intensity of the Palisades fire?  Someone who did not provide the water, forest management or oversite needed to prevent the extent of the fire?  Can you trust someone with $40 billion who used other tax dollars to promote and protected drug dealer, rapists and murderers—who refuses to obey Federal laws?

What guarantees will we have the money will be used to make Pacific Palisades whole?  He is using tax dollars to tear down FIVE dams, with no replacement for the water lost.

“Zeldin stated, “I think that there [are] going to be conversations in the weeks and months ahead, as Congress is starting to debate whether or not there’s going to be some supplemental that’s sent to California of federal funding that helps with their recovery. There [are] going to be specific issues discussed of what is California going to be doing differently to prevent this from happening again. I’ve already heard this conversation. It’s certainly started already. The president has engaged his team to come up with ideas, that is a process that has already begun. And I don’t think this is going to be a situation where there’s going to be some blank check sent from Congress to California where California doesn’t take any actions.”

You can’t give $40 billion to someone who has NEVER had a balanced budget—will this money be used to balance his budget, not for recovery?

On Monday’s “Alex Marlow Show,” EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin said that he doesn’t think California fire relief money will be a blank check and the Trump administration has already started to think of ideas for what the state should do differently.

Zeldin stated, “I think that there [are] going to be conversations in the weeks and months ahead, as Congress is starting to debate whether or not there’s going to be some supplemental that’s sent to California of federal funding that helps with their recovery. There [are] going to be specific issues discussed of what is California going to be doing differently to prevent this from happening again. I’ve already heard this conversation. 1. Would you buy your 16-year-old kid a new car if he just totaled out his new car or your family car in a drag race? Hell, no you wouldn’t, so why give LA County, et al monies to likely do something else other than build safe and sane housing in accordance with the terrain and weather risks.
Any monies given to assist LA county or other regions need to be over seen by national CPA firms that have the assistance of the appropriate engineers and other experts to audit work progress and approve and disburse monies. The CPA firms are fiduciaries that are licensed to perform faithful and expert service to their clients, in this case the US government. We could do the same for our really corrupt USAIOD programs that seem to benefit those on the sidelines rather than the intended recipients.

  2. Too late.
Three folks, one of whom is IN TEXAS, have been charged with fraudulently receiving California fire-relief money.
