Eber: How to Handle Bridge Blocking Terrorists

Terrorism is the act of controlling people via force.  When you imprison people for hours on a bridge, you are a terrorist.  When you make people feel threaten by driving to work or the grocery store, you are a terrorist.

Instead of the County jailing you because of blocking abridge is a State crime, you should be arrested, no bail, for being a terrorist.

How many people did not get to work?  How many did not get to their doctor’s appointment?  How many students did not get to school?

Why hasn’t Biden called in the FBI—this was an insurrection!  A group of terrorists worked together—who financed them—arrest them as well, and freeze their assets—terrorist should not be allowed to finance violence.

Richard Eber, Exclusive to the California Political News and Views,  4/22/24  www.capoliticalnewsandviews.com

On tax day April 15th, my friend Pete was unable to reach his place of employment in Oakland. A Pro- Palestinian group blocked the busy 880 Freeway, causing virtual gridlock during the busy Monday commute.

It was even worse for those trying to use the Golden Gate Bridge connecting Marin and San Francisco Counties.  This same scene was repeated in Southern California where opposition to Israel has created chaos for those trying to navigate already congested roadways.

Through this entire ordeal little concern has been given to victims of civil disobedience. These folks have had their lives disrupted by a war they have had virtually nothing to do with.  Especially affected are hourly employees whose families depend on their breadwinners to safely reach their place of employment.

Given the inconvenience and the impact on commerce by Palestinian protests, what has the government done to discourage the chaos created by these demonstrators?

The answer is virtually nothing.

In the few instances where those who block bridges and interstate highways have been arrested, in most cases they are charged with misdemeanors. After being released without bail , returning to court routinely leads to dismissal without consequences.

The same judicial system that fails to charge illegal aliens with felonies and releases violent criminals without bail, has no taste for discouraging radical Leftist mobs from disrupting civil society.

So it is on to the next demonstration; the public be damned.

At the same time most of the news media is sympathetic  with the Pro-Palestinian protestors.  They are considered to be hero’s fighting the good fight against the Fascist forces of Israel and the United States

In one case an acquaintance of mine said Israel was to blame for the recent missile strike from Iran.  I was told “Israel broke international law killing the two generals who planned the October 7th attack.  They were murdered while having  diplomatic immunity  being shielded by the Iranian Embassy. This  was a gross violation of international law,”

Missing from this equation was that the Islamic Republic has spent billions of dollars financing proxy wars in Gaza, Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, and Yeaman with immunity. Ditto the terrorist organization using  innocent civilians to shield their forces from the Israeli military in Gaza.

At the same time justification for Hamas Oct  7thth attack has been given by mainstream USA Media. Sometimes it is difficult to distinguish coverage between MSNBC and the New York Times from propaganda generated by Al Jazeera.

Meanwhile protests against the alleged fascist state of Israel continue unabated by the law enforcement community of California,  The question comes up what they should be doing to counter the disruptions of Palestinian protests on critical infrastructure?

How about:

1. The penalty for engaging in the disruption of a bridge and/or a freeway should be considered a serious felony.

2, Those  charged should only be released on bail.  $25,000 per person sounds about right.

3.  If the cases go to trial, mandatory prison time should be enforced.  Any plea bargains should have the proviso to never be engaged with similar civil disobedience again.

Perhaps we might suggest a similar approach  taken with dealing with those Mega conservatives involved with the alleged Capital Inserection January 6, 2021.  Protecting the 1st amendment should be colorblind without considering what the cause might be

In a civil society, no one should have the right to disrupt an individual’s right to work and carry out activities related to their life each day.  This guiding principle would discourage the five employees of Google who failed to disperse after occupying the office of their CEO,  The group was protesting their companies contracts with the Israeli government.

The five ended up being arrested and placed on administrative leave for failing to follow Google’s personnel policies.  A  couple days later these demonstrators were given their walking papers by the high tech giant. Imagine trying to explain to your spouse about losing your $250,000 a year job because of supporting terrorists!

All things considered,  the disruptions caused by the Palestinian protests makes me sick..  I am content to “Lock em Up” and live with the consequences.  Misguided idealists, regardless of political persuasion, should be harshly dealt with equally.

  1. We don’t need new laws with new definitions. What we need are new penalties for existing laws. For every 10 minutes the flow of traffic is blocked sentence these road blockers to 1 day of trash pickup in the city or county or whatever jurisdiction is involved. One hour of interrupted traffic flow results in 6 days of trash pickup. Result? Cleaner cities, less rodents.
