CONGRATULATIONS TO CARL DE MAIO—

He got 42% in his run for Assembly—even after the County Party and the California Republican Party endorsed his opponent. His endorsed candidates won 41 of 45 elected seats on the San Diego Central Committee—again against the Establishment.  His November opponent is Andrew Hayes, the Chief of Staff for Senator Brian Jones.  Hayes was endorsed by the GOP Establishment and a union, the Carpenters Union.  For Hayes to win in November he would have to go hard after the Democrat vote.

Upon election DeMaio will become a leading spokesperson for the Republican Party in California—he is NOT a back bencher.

This is a complete turn over of the Committee.  Watch for major changes in San Diego.

This is one of the races that Adam Schiff is raising money for, instead of his Senate seat.  Did we gain a nominee at the cost of losing a Congressional seat?

“An NRCC poll (Feb. 18-20; 400 LVs; +/-4.9%) conducted by NMB Research found Stockton Mayor Kevin Lincoln (R) and Rep. Josh Harder (D-09) statistically tied. Lincoln was at 44% and Harder was at 40%. The pair advanced to the general election in November without much of a fight. President Biden led the presidential race in the district, 45%-43%. Lincoln was at 24% favorable, 11% unfavorable, while “just under half” had never heard of him.

Lincoln was a top NRCC recruit in a district that went to Biden by 12 points, but it will be an uphill climb nonetheless. Harder has nine times as much cash on hand compared to Lincoln, who has not yet posted overwhelming quarters, but this poll will be a nice pitch to GOP donors.

Why run for Office if GOP Leadership doesn’t want Republicans to run?

In LA County a retired Judge was the only GOP candidate running for District Attorney.  The LAGOP, led by Tim O’Reilly (who chaired the CRP Platofrm Committee and PROMOTED a Democrat Platform for the GOP), refused to give Judge Milton the endorsement—or even allow a vote to endorse.  Why?  Leadership was supporting an NPP candidate, who has denounced Donald Trump.

In Santa Barbara the GOP had a chance to take out radical Supervisor Das Williams with a Republican.  Instead they worked HARD to discourage any Republican from running.  Literally, the Santa Barbara Republican leadership wanted to elect a DEMOCRAT instead.

Mike Stoker a former GOP Supervisor in the county and former GOP nominee for Assembly wrote about this race in the Santa Barbara Current—and he was proud of the results, the election of a Democrat as Supervisor.

“First, we needed to ensure that no Republicans ran so that it would be a two-person race. That way it was guaranteed one candidate would win. Why that was important is the turnout model for a General Election in a Presidential election would be much more favorable to Das Williams than the Primary Election.”

“Hence, for Roy to win, it was essential that no Republican run in the 1st that would have guaranteed a run-off in the General Election. With no Republicans running, Republicans could work hard to make sure Republicans voted for Roy.”

“And they happened because anyone who knows Roy likes him. They like him because he brings a naivete and innocence to politics that has been lacking for some time on the Board of Supervisors. He has been a City Councilman who shows up, does his job, votes the way his conscience tells him to vote, and not how any political party or special interest group tells him, and does everything in a very open and transparent manner.

I strongly believe that will be the Roy Lee we all will see on the Board of Supervisors come next January. Instead of being the predictable County Supervisor who aligns himself with a party or a special interest, Roy will not align himself with anyone or anything other than having a good conscience of just doing what in his heart he believes is the right thing to do. And I believe the County Board of Supervisors will be a better political body as a whole because of that.”

Anybody think Lee will endorse any Republican for office?  Will he help raise money or register voters for the GOP?

Or, now that he is in office, become an activist Democrat further harming the GOP.  Yes, he might be a nice person.  But this is the type of experience that tells qualified Republicans who want to run for office not to bother—the GOP will back a Democrat.  Note Stoker does not mention a single issue where Lee and the GOP agree—just that he will listen.  As for me, listening does not matter, votes do.  And now, the GOP leadership have told GOP’ers not to run for office and all they want is a cup of coffee, not support.

Sadly, these are but two examples of the Republican Party in California making itself irrelevant.  In Santa Barbara, for this one election, it was relevant for the purpose of NOT running a candidate.  Literally it is relevant in its own destruction.
