HEARD ON THE TOM/TOMS

Heard on the Tom/Toms

The by-laws of the California Republican party set up an organization called “Associate Representatives”.  The CRP runs the election, and the Associate Reps elect a Chair.  Currently the elected Chair in Jon Paul White.  Per the by-laws, Jon is a mandated member of the CRP Executive Committee.  As such he sends out email blasts, asking members to volunteer for campaigns and to train them in the art of politics and campaigns.  A few weeks ago he held a training session for Associate Reps in Orange County—with plans for more in the rest of the State.

Several weeks ago, White sent a request for a meeting room for the May CRP convention—the purpose was to provide training and strategy for gaining new dues paying members.  He never heard back.  All those requesting rooms were to be told the time and room on April 12.  The CRP did not respond to th Chair White.

On Monday, April 15, White called to find out the status.  Bryan Watkins the CEO/ED responded by informing him that HE, Watkins, a CRP staffer, was going to control the meeting—without telling Chair White.  Watkins then announced that White could provide material for the event, but he, Watkins would decide what could be used—and that the CRP STAFF, not the elected Chair of the Associated Representatives would set the agenda and run the meeting—but, White was allowed to attend.

None of this was approved by the CRP Board of Directors.  In fact, none knew about it till on the afternoon of April 15, when they received an email from Chair White, did they know any of this.

It is time for the Board to take charge.  Did CRP Chair Jessica Patterson approve this?  Did Vice Chair Corrine Rankin approve this?  Did any Board member, with authority approve this?

Why is the GOP irrelevant?  Because Bryan Watkins, apparently on his own has made over 500 members of the Associate Representatives irrelevant.  How can he ask these 500 plus volunteers, who pay dues, to work on campaigns or help the CRP when they are told elections and by-laws mean nothing.  We need an open, transparent and vibrant GOP in California.  Telling 500 people they do not count—elect who you want as Chair—but we will tell you what you can and can not say or do.  You pay your dues, but do not count.

Here is a copy of the Letter sent by Associate Representative Chair Jon Pual White ot the CRP Board of Directors:

Dear CAGOP Board Member,

My name is Jon Paul White, I am the Elected CAGOP Associate Delegate Representative.

I just finished a phone call with Brian Watkins Executive Director of the California Republican Party.

I was told that I am not to use CAGOP name or logo NOR am I to have a meeting at the upcoming Convention as has been done in the past.

I asked via proper channels for a room for the Associate Reps to meet–and never heard back from Bryan or anyone.  It took a call that I initiated to get an answer.

The CRP are putting on a Delegate/ Delegate Associate Delegate training, and that’s it. We will not be allowed to have our own meeting. If I wish to provide materials and if it fits, they will consider putting them out.

I was appalled and disgusted with the professionalism of Mr. Watkins as he hung up on me.

I seek your help and assistance in “Building the future of the Republican Party.”

Respectfully,

Jon Paul White

Elected CAGOP Associate Delegate Representative  Chair

There are some crazy, Leftists groups promoting racism, divisive and destruction of our economy.  Notice the names of these radical groups.  Here are two of them:

About Excessive Wealth Disorder Institute

The Excessive Wealth Disorder Institute was created in 2022 to focus attention on the societal dysfunction and distortion of our democracy created by extreme concentrations of wealth in the hands of a small segment of our society – just 0.1 percent of households – who have more assets than two-thirds of Americans. Our mission is to create a more balanced distribution of wealth by elevating policy solutions focused on curbing the excessive wealth of the nation’s richest individuals.

About The Institute on Race, Power, and the Political Economy – California Explorations Project

The Institute on Race Power and Political Economy was founded in 2021 to understand and advance economic inclusion, civic engagement, and equity. The Institute provides the intellectual and physical space to cultivate innovative policies, strategies, and investments that break down restrictive hierarchies, empower people, and move society toward greater social equity by fusing insights from multiple disciplines to improve our understanding of the causes, consequences, and remedies associated with racial, ethnic, gender, and other forms of stratification in a host of domains including education, employment, criminal justice, health, housing, environment, asset accumulation, and other vital sectors across regional, national, and international landscapes. The California Explorations Project is an exploratory effort by The Institute intended to support more integrated, aligned and research-informed efforts by California racial, gender and economic justice groups, to achieve needed structural reforms in state governance and budgeting leading to a more inclusive and robust California economy.
