Colman: AN IGNOBLE CAUSE

These are troubling times.  Inflation, crime, illegal aliens, drugs, massive government spending, failed education—even going on a bus is dangerous.  Try going on a NY subway.

But Hamas is different from American civil-rights advocates.  Hamas seeks to kill and maim Jews.  Hamas does not seek a non-violent solution to any grievances.

Certain individuals and certain nations are calling for a cease-fire in the Gaza Strip.  A cease-fire is nothing more than appeasement and surrender.”

Imagine FDR asking Hitler for a cease fire?  That is what Biden and the Democrats are asking Israel—get attack, suck it up and forget about it—allow it to happen again and again.  France asked Hitler for a cease fire—look at what happened to that nation.

AN IGNOBLE CAUSE

All over the United States, there have been demonstrations of support for Palestinians living in the Gaza Strip and elsewhere.

Why should there be sympathy for Hamas, a Palestinian terrorist group in Gaza, which orchestrated, on October 7, 2023, murderous crimes and other assaults against Israeli and American Jews living in Israel?

Jews living in Israel were not only killed but also molested, tortured, raped, and abducted.  The October pogrom was the worst anti-Semitic act since the Nazi era (1933-1945).

One idea should be readily apparent:  The leaders of Gaza-based Hamas and Hamas sympathizers have a goal:  to destroy Israel and eliminate Jews elsewhere.

The pro-Palestinian demonstrations in the United States are not comparable to the civil-rights demonstrations in the American South –- demonstrations that sought to bring an end peacefully to discrimination against African-Americans and other groups that faced segregation and other indignities.

The American leader of the civil rights movement was Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., an exponent of non-violence.

But Hamas is different from American civil-rights advocates.  Hamas seeks to kill and maim Jews.  Hamas does not seek a non-violent solution to any grievances.

Certain individuals and certain nations are calling for a cease-fire in the Gaza Strip.  A cease-fire is nothing more than appeasement and surrender.

The Israelis, facing an act of war similar to what the United States faced at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, on December 7, 1941.  The next day, the United States declared war on Japan. A few days later, Germany declared war on America.

America was in World War II to win and called for unconditional surrender against Japan and Germany.

The Israelis must win their war against Hamas and other opponents.  If winning means the destruction of Hamas, that also means there will be collateral damage to Palestinians living in the war zone.  Hamas must never be allowed to threaten Jews again.

The Biden administration in America seems ambivalent about supporting Israel, an American ally.  If the Americans show weakness in the Gaza war, other nations will conclude that the U.S. will not support its allies elsewhere.  Specifically, what are the leaders of Iran, China, Russia, and North Korea –- all adversaries of the United States — thinking about America’s indecisiveness?

Moreover, where does Donald Trump, the presumptive Republican presidential nominee, stand on the Gaza war?

The American people should strongly and peacefully oppose these pro-Palestinian demonstrators, many of whom are on university campuses.  While peaceful, non-violent demonstrations are permitted under the American constitution, the force of law must be used to protect lives and property.

And then there is the moral question:  Why should any American support a pro-Palestinian movement that fails to consider that Hamas took hostages and killed Jews –- Israeli and American -– on October 7?

America has lost its moral compass.  It may be too late for America to right itself and show moral clarity during a time of attack on an ally.

  1. Either the Biden Administration is so inept and has no concept of what they ae doing or we are so misinformed that we do not understand what is really going on between Isarel and Hammas/Iran and the US. Japan attacked Pearl Harbor and we went to war. Hamas attacks Isarel and we TELL Isarel to stand down. Like a lot of things governments do, this makes no sense.
